R2Bees Set To Storm Africa Unplugged

R2Bees Set To Storm Africa Unplugged

R2Bees Set To Storm Africa UnpluggedDynamic Ghanaian rap duo R2Bees have announced their preparedness for the August 27 Africa Unplugged concert billed for the Wembley Arena, London.

In a televised viral video preempting this historic event, the multiple charts-topping group made up of Paedae and Mugeez, gave the strongest indication of an unforgettable night on Bank Holiday, August 27 in the United Kingdom, and why Africa must rally behind the Africa Unplugged initiative.

Set to be the biggest event in the United Kingdom in August, the organizers of the Africa Unplugged concert aim at using the platform to raise awareness on the plight of most Africa’s worrying challenges including Poverty, Malaria, War, Genocide, HIV/Aids, lack of access to portable drinking water and the numerous other atrocities that has bedeviled the continent.

A substantial portion of proceeds from the concert will go to support and address these challenges,” the organizers have said.

R2Bees has thus called on their loyal fans in and outside the UK to make it a point to attend the concert, as that was the only way enough revenue would be raised for the project.

With 20 of Africa’s best acts selected across 15 countries billed to perform, Africa Unplugged is yet the biggest event to hit the UK and Europe in a long while.

The organizers are upbeat about the success of the show, as news of the event has been received well across the United Kingdom and in most parts of Europe.

With an incredible resume under their belt, having staged and organized the best of concerts in both the United Kingdom and Ghana, the organizers have assured patrons of nothing but the best.

Concerts and events worked on by the organizers in the past, have included Rick Ross in London, D’Banj, Tyga, P Square, Nicki Minaj, Jamie Fox, 9ice, R Kelly, 2 Face, Joe, Fabolous & RedCafe Live in Ghana, Mario & Shontelle Live in Ghana and T- Pain Live in Ghana.

If the above feat is any indication of how good they are, then London is in for a treat on August 27.
AFRICAUNPLUGGED seeks to celebrate the spirit of Africa through Music, Comedy and Dance, and is powered by leading event management outfit 233Connect.

ALEWA FOR PEACE – 13th May 2012

They say a word to the wise is enough but here is an exception- witty words woven on the Alewa platform rather literally augment appetite.

Poetry/spoken word lovers all over Ghana and beyond have kept one question on their tongues, “When is Alewa coming back?”..Twisted in a way like Oliver, Ghana’s favourite poetry show, Alewa returns wrapped with sizzling performances that will shoot you through the roof and make you beg for more.

The first Alewa left an audience in awe for months; From D.K.Osei Yaw’s djembe magic to Selikem’s libation with poured-out words, Rhymesonny’s ‘poelitical’ redress, Poetra’s plate of palatable poetry, Kwame Write and friends in a sizzling drama act fused with poetry, Yom’s yummy bard experience, Alba Sumprim’s book-reading to poet of the day; Mariska’s marvelous sway with words. The whole package was top-notch.

Then there was the second, Alewa Reloaded, which swept people off their feet with brooms of creativity. Featuring were author of the day Nana Awere Damoah, Mutombo da poet bearing a photo of sentences, Ms. Ndabi, Chief Moomen and more. Now the long wait is over!

Art Lovers, Entertainers and Wordsmiths will be in Action again this May 12th at Sytris Bookshop and Cafe, Osu Oxford Street between 17:30 and 20:30 GMT for a show that promises to keep an audience with fingers crossed and mouth agape the whole time. Dubbed, Alewa for peace, this edition seeks to highlight on the need for another peaceful presidential election this year. Expect the best Ghana has to offer in the poetry/spoken word industry on stage again with tongues multicolored by Alewa!!

Highlighting the event is a wordsmith known to have once used his mother’s umbilical cord as a microphone; known to most as a rapper, will break it down spoken-word style. I talk of no other than the realest emcee, C-real. Also, author of the day, an acclaimed writer Empi Baryeh whose books focuses on heart-warming multicultural romance with enough passion to enthrall readers who want a little sizzle with their romance. She lives here in Accra which provides the exotic setting for most of her novels. She is currently the Assistant registrar of the University of Ghana, legon

Peoples’ Choice Award for Television 2012 (PCAT) Unveiled

Black Platinum Productions with Osiman Production, in
conjunction with the television stations in Ghana is organising the maiden edition of an annual event called THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS FOR TELEVISION
(PCAT) .

According to the African Media Report in 2008, Ghana’s television industry is making rapid economic and professional developments. This has created a favourable environment for active private participation by both local and international media houses, resulting in the inception of innovative, tailor-made and genuine TV production and programmes.

With the standard of quality and improvement in the Ghanaian TV industry, however, comes the responsibility of developing a system to monitor, evaluate and reward excellence in the industry.

Highlighting the importance of this, the founder, Nana Asiedu Asante-Samuels, said: “This has been a landmark decade for television as viewers now have a wide variety to choose from and I believe we need this to spur industry progress and enhance the glamour and presentation of our local content.

Award events have over the years been based on data collated by a team of judges who after careful scrutiny of the various nominations unanimously pronounce one nominee as winner of a category.

This has the tendency of narrowing the scope of approval by fans and the general public as judgments
may be biased.

The PCAT on the contrary, provides an unlimited scope where the public could choose whomever or whichever program or show it liked to be the recipient of the award; thereby empowering fans and the general public to be the judges of the event. This in effect ensures a continuous rise in the delivery of services by media houses in the country.

Because of the way the awards are decided, winners will not be given the title “Best”, but rather “Most Popular”.

Activities outlined for the event includes a pre-event press launch, the official announcement of nominees, a VIP red carpet show, post event VIP cocktail party and an afterparty bash.

Dates will be announced later.

The award show is to be held annually to award the best in the TV industry. However to be eligible, a nominee must be primarily based in Ghana, all programmes must be broadcasted for the first time between December 31 of the preceding year to November 30, of the award year.
